You said that Nissan decided to not bring the skyline over just because it would have been hard to make it left hand driven? Where do you get your info? Redesigning a car from being right hand driven to left hand driven is a pretty simple task that is fairly easy for auto manufacturers. Look at the Silvia (aka 240SX in the U.S.).. it is right hand driven in Japan, but all of the 240SX's are left hand driven here in the U.S. They could have easily made left hand driven skylines if they saw a big enough potential market for it here in the U.S. The gearbox is the same no matter which side of the car is drivers side... in Japan and in the U.S. the first gear is always to the left of third gear and that's left of 5th gear, etc.
